Layang-Layang

Located in the Spratlys, about 165 nautical miles North East of Kota Kinabalu, Layang Layang rises 2000m from the ocean floor. Being located so far from the mainland the water is typically clear and warm. The steep walls play host to resident reef life and passing pelagics. Schooling scalloped hammerheads are the big draw for divers here during the months of March, April and May but there's plenty more on offer besides.

At either end of the Atoll currents converge and diverge providing nutrient rich water for the many fish species here. The topography of the walls is also stunning, Sharks cave is a favourite dive site.

With no island as such, the resort is built on the atoll itself and features satellite TV, five meals a day, a well stocked bar and a swimming pool. Access is by a one hour flight from Kota Kinabalu.
